[ARCHIVED] Services recognized fallen police officers, others for their service to Hampton

May 15, 2018 - Hampton Police Monday held the 2018 Police Memorial and Honor Award Service in Honor Park, between City Hall and the P.G. Minetti Public Safety Building. The service paid tribute to Hampton police officers who died in the line of duty, and special awards were given to current police officers and staff, including the Lifesaving Award, Meritorious Service Award and Volunteer of the Year award. 

Mayor Donnie Tuck also issued a special proclamation from City Council in honor of the fallen officers - Kenneth E. Wallace, Mark C. DeCuypere and Ralph K. Ghivizanni. The audience of more than 100 people included city officials, police officers, the family of fallen officers and others. The service was part of National Police Week, which was established by President Kennedy in 1962.
