[ARCHIVED] Unity sponsors community conversation on 'Living Life and Losing Labels'

April 18, 2018 - A community conversation on increasing LGBTQ awareness will be held for middle school and high school students on Friday, May 4 from 4-6:15 p.m. at the Northhampton Community Center, 1435 -A Todds Lane. Parents are welcome.

Teens will have the opportunity to acknowledge and discuss gender identity and orientation questions, dispel myths and address misunderstandings. The goal is to improve socials skills and encourage inclusive support that will reduce fear, bullying and high-risk behaviors. 

Photographs or video may be taken during the event and used in city promotions, but parental or legal guardian consent is required. Photo release forms will be provided to participants by email after registration.

The community conversation is sponsored by the Citizens' Unity Commission in partnership with Hampton police, Hampton Roads Pride, The Hampton Convention & Visitors Bureau and Newport News police.
