[ARCHIVED] Players, coaches, parents and advocates wanted to join Hampton Hoops this summer

March 20, 2018 - Hampton Hoops, a free, five week, summer basketball league, is looking for players and volunteers.


Sponsored by the city's Office of Youth and Young Adults Opportunities, Hampton police and other city departments, Hampton Hoops promotes social interaction, positive character building and leadership opportunities. The goal is to inspire participating young people.


The league is open to male and females 11 and older who live in the city. Participants must be at  least 11 by July 1, 2018. There are divisions for players: ages 11-14, 15-17, and 18 and up. Registration ends once capacity is met. Practices and games will be held in Hampton community centers, with games twice a week beginning in July and a tournament in August ending the season.


Hampton Hoops organizers are also looking for volunteer coaches, team parents and advocate.
