[ARCHIVED] Sheriff's deputies participate in 2018 Polar Plunge

Special Olympics 2018

Feb. 23, 2018 — Hampton sheriff's deputies jumped into frigid waters Feb. 3 to raise money for the Special Olympics of Virginia in the 2018 Polar Plunge. 

The deputies braved the sub-40-degree waters at the Virginia Beach oceanfront for the 26th Annual Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics of Virginia. The fundraising event surpassed the $1 million mark with a total of $1.2 million collected. Of that total, $3,905 came from the Hampton Sheriff’s Office, an all-time high for the department. 

The 2018 event marks the 13th consecutive year Hampton deputies have raised funds for Special Olympics. The Sheriff's Office has raised a total of $23,905 in that time.
