Dec. 20, 2017 - Hampton's Foster Grandparent Program will host the 14th annual MLK Day of Service on Friday, Jan. 12, at the Northampton Community Center. The community is invited to come out from 9 a.m.-noon to participate in the "Gift of Warmth" day of service by bringing a pair of gloves, hat, scarf or gently used children's coat. Anita Blanton of WAVY TV 10 will be the keynote speaker.
Martin Luther KIng's legacy of community service is highlighted in his often-quoted statement: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?" The MLK Day of service is an opportunity for citizens to help the children in our community who face cold weather without adequate warm clothing. Items collected will be presented to the Title I program of Hampton City Schools.
Admission is a "Gift of Warmth" item, and lunch will be served. Pre-registration is required and can done online or by calling 757-727-1452.
