[ARCHIVED] Peninsula Town Center expands, bringing Sky Zone trampoline park, flooring store

groundbreaking

Oct. 30, 2017 – Family entertainment and more retail, as well as an apartment complex and Element Hotel, are headed to Peninsula Town Center.

At a Monday groundbreaking ceremony for a 97,000-square-foot retail building currently underway, officials announced the space will be home to Floor & Décor, a leading flooring retailer, and Sky Zone Trampoline Park, an indoor and outdoor trampoline park. Peninsula Town Center is also working on getting permits for the construction of a hotel and apartment complex, to be located at the site of the former Macy’s building.

Element Hotel by Marriot will be an extended-stay hotel, featuring a minimum of 120-rooms and sit next to Axis Luxury Apartments. The five-story apartment complex will have a “variety of layouts and designer inspired styles,” Matthew Hooker of the Peninsula Town Center announced.

“I am very excited to be here helping to make Hampton an experience where people can eat, live, and work,” Zaffar Tabani said of this investment, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2018.

Tabani did not disclose the cost of the expansion but noted that it would increase the value of the mixed-use shopping center by at least $65 million and would fulfill the vision of the original investor.

“The capital that will be invested in these projects will increase our tourism and business travels,” Raymond Tripp of Coliseum Central Business Improvement District said. Tripp added that the expansion is a milestone for Hampton, Peninsula Town Center and Coliseum Central that would expand the city’s residential and retail components.
