[ARCHIVED] Borrow 'I Love Virginia State Parks' explorer backpacks at libraries

Want to explore the parks, trails and nature centers in Virginia? The Hampton library is offering “I Love Virginia State Parks” backpacks.  The backpack includes a pass for free parking and admission to all Virginia state parks and accessories to help you learn about nature and science through exploration. 

With this nature backpack, kids of all ages can explore and learn about Virginia state parks.

The backpacks include, among other items:

  • Parking pass for free parking and admission to all Virginia state parks.
  • Pocket guides for weather, edible wild plants, medicinal plants and other plants.
  • Learn and Live Outdoor Skills card set.
  • Tarp.
  • Paracord.
  • Port-A-Bug Field Observation Container.
  • Binoculars.
  • Star Map.

One backpack is available at the Main Library and each of the three branches and can be checked out for 14 days per family. An adult with a valid library card must check out the backpack. Items must be returned to the library during open business hours and not in the bookdrop. The borrower will incur a $50 fine if the pass is lost. An inventory of the pack's items will be made at checkout and on return.
