[ARCHIVED] Governor, wife, join mayor to launch 'No Kid Hungry' campaign in Hampton

summer meals

June 30, 2017 - Gov. Terry McAulifffe and his wife Dorothy Mcauliffe will join Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck, representatives from No Kid Hungry Virginia and others Wednesday at the West Hampton Community Center to launch the summer meals program.

No Kids Hungry Virginia and its partners focus on providing summer meals as a critical way to end childhood hunger in Virginia. The outdoor "field day," which starts with the launch at 11 a.m., will include a barbeque and picnic, games, face painting and more. During the summer there are more than 30 locations in Hampton where those 18 and under can receive free, healthy meals. People can still register to be feeding locations, and parents don’t have to sign up for a program, they can take their child to any site. (Call 3-1-1 or 757-727-8311 for locations.)

The No Kid Hungry Virginia campaign is the product of a public-private partnership that includes Dorothy McAuliffe, the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Department of Education, and several corporate partners.
