[ARCHIVED] Learn more about how to get hired as a firefighter-medic


June 5, 2017 - Ever think about being a firefighter and medic? Here’s your chance to learn what it’s really like -- and how to get your best start on the hiring process. 

Newport News and Hampton have a joint hiring process and are offering 6 open house opportunities for people to learn more about the career and how to increase your chances to be successful in the hiring process. 

The two cities work together in hiring. The open houses will be held on two different days at different times. The same information will be provided at each session, which are expected to last about 2 hours.

Options are: 

  • Thursday, June 22 at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.  and 2:00 p.m. at the Newport News Fire Training Center, 17300 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23603 
  • Wednesday, July 12 at 9:00 a.m. , 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Hampton Fire Station 11, 1304 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666

 The application process begins July 21. Attendance isn’t required to apply.
