April, 12, 2017 - The Hampton Police Department, Hampton Roads Committee of 200 + Men, Inc., Hampton's Department of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services and Hampton's Youth Violence Prevention office will host a week-long "VA Rules Camp"  this summer for rising 6th-9th graders.

The camp is free and includes zip-lining, trampolines, trips to the beach and more fun with police officers.  It  will be held Aug. 28-Sept. 1 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Fort Monroe Community Center.  While there is no fee for the camp, attendance for the entire week is expected.

During the camp students will learn about state laws using a "Virginia Rules" curriculum. Designed especially for teens, the Virginia Rules program provides information about state laws with an emphasis on how they apply to teens in their day-to-day lives. Participants will be encouraged to build relationships with trustworthy adults and learn more about careers in law enforcement.

Interest forms are available online April 11th through May 30th - or until 50 applications are received. Submitting an interest form does not guarantee camp participation. Please note that this program is only open for students who live in Hampton.
