April 6, 2017 - The National Weather Service at Wakefield said there remains a significant severe weather threat for our area between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday.  A tornado watch is in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday.

An initial area of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move across the coastal Carolinas and into Virginia Wednesday night.  After a "brief lull," a second round of more severe weather is expected. The threat of tornadoes has been expanded to include central Virginia and the metro Richmond area Thursday morning. You can monitor the latest weather at www.weather.gov/wakefield. Hampton's Emergency Management Office will continue to monitor the situation.
