Jan. 27, 2017 - If you attended high school in Hampton and want to travel down memory lane, you may be able to revisit your high school days in an online yearbook search.

Fifty-two of the city's yearbooks from Special Collections department at the Hampton Public Library have recently been digitized and are now available online.

These digital yearbooks represent five of the City of Hampton’s high schools (Bethel, Hampton, Kecoughtan, Pembroke, and Phoebus) and cover many of the years between 1940-1977.  These yearbooks were digitized through a project done in collaboration with the Library of Virginia and Internet Archive.

Library Director Valerie Gardner says, "The Hampton Public Library participated in the digital yearbook project to allow residents an opportunity to revisit the past. Have you ever been curious about how a friend, co-worker or neighbor looked in high school? Now you can see for yourself."

The digital yearbooks are available to be browsed at any time, and you do not need a Hampton library card.

Not every yearbook in the library's collection was scanned. You can browse through others in Hampton Public Library’s Special Collections department. For more information about the yearbook collection, search the online catalog at http://www.hampton.gov/1249/Online-Catalog, call 727-1314 or visit the Special Collections department at 4207 Victoria Blvd.
