[ARCHIVED] City Council approves 2 live music permits, public pier in Phoebus

Nov. 9, 2016 - Hampton City Council approved two live music permits, one for an established business that is moving and another for a new venture in the old Armory building at its Wednesday night meeting.
--The Comfort Zone, a restaurant and popular dance club, is relocating from Riverdale to 2165 Cunningham Drive, which is located in the Coliseum Corner shopping center. The site was formerly a Goodwill. The restaurant and lounge will continue to offer Southern and Cajun food and an array of music and dancing for the over-30 crowd in its new location.
--The Vanguard, a planned restaurant, brewpub and micro-distillery that will operate in the former Armory building, was granted a permit for live music indoors and, in more limited hours, outdoors.
In other actions, Council:
--Approved a small public floating dock at the end of Water Street in Phoebus that would allow kayaks and canoes to launch. They had approved the dock earlier, but a lack of funding postponed construction and the permit expired.
--Approved some changes in a plan for The Tides multifamily development on Power Plant Parkway.
