[ARCHIVED] Virginia voter registration deadline extended to Oct. 21

Oct. 20, 2016 - Virginia voters can register to vote for this year's presidential election through Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, according to a federal judge's ruling. The original deadline was Monday, but so many people tried to register that the state's website crashed.
Here are the ways in which you can still register:
-In-person to the office of their local general registrar by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. Hampton's office is located at 1919 Commerce Dr. , Suite 280.
-By mail postmarked on or before Friday, Oct. 21.
-Online at www.vote.virginia.gov through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21
-To an designated state agency, such as the DMV or a social services office, by Oct. 21.
In addition to registering to vote, Virginians may also check their current voter registration status, find their polling location and apply for an absentee ballot on the Department’s Citizen Portal at vote.virginia.gov .
