[ARCHIVED] Hampton University Homecoming parade starts downtown, ends on campus


Oct. 13, 2016 - Several downtown streets - including King Street and part of Settler's Landing Road - will be closed Saturday morning for Hampton University's homecoming parade, which starts at 10 a.m. and ends at noon.

"No parking" signs are scheduled to be posted Friday along Lincoln Street between Eaton Street and Armistead Avenue and on Settlers Landing Road between Armistead Avenue and Eaton Street.

At 8:30 Saturday morning King Street will be closed for parade line-up and staging. Settler's Landing will be closed at 9:50 a.m. between Tyler Street and Armistead. The parade starts downtown and ends on campus. Settler's Landing will reopen at noon.

Homecoming week started Sunday, Oct. 9 with a gospel concert. Saturday at 2 p.m. Hampton's football team plays the team from Morgan State University.
