Oct. 8, 2016 - Storms are battering Hampton harder than predicted, with a flash flood warning issued Saturday evening, dozens of roads flooded, and scattered power outages.
By 8:30 p.m., more than two dozen roads were flooded, in several areas of the city, including Coliseum Central, Phoebus, downtown, Fox Hill, Newmarket Creek. Already, 4.27 inches of rain have fallen.
More than 5,400 residences and businesses are without power. Outages have also affected streetlights at several intersections. Drivers should remember that an intersection where lights are out should be treated like a four-way stop.
