[ARCHIVED] Nominations sought for 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame of the Lower Virginia Peninsula

Oct. 7, 2016 - The Athletic Hall of Fame of the Lower Virginia Peninsula - dedicated to area residents whose athletic achievements have brought honor and recognition to themselves and to the region - is accepting nominations for the class of 2017.

Previous Hall of Fame recipients include former NFL quarterback Aaron Brooks and current Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin; former Christopher Newport University basketball coach and athletic director C.J. Woollum; and world-class racquetball player Carol French, who won the 1980 national open singles title.

Nominees must be a native of the Lower Peninsula (Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson or York County), have spent 10 years living here before living elsewhere, or be a permanent resident today. Their achievement must be on a statewide, national or international basis. And, they must be at least 25 at the time of nomination.
