[ARCHIVED] City Council looks to fill vacancies on Hampton's advisory boards and commissions

Aug. 27, 2016 - Openings and applications are available for residents who want to serve as advisors to City Council and city staff on everything from economic development to animal control.

City Council recently announced a goal of expanding the number of people involved with Hampton's boards and commissions. Here are the boards and commissions that will have vacancies noted on Council's Sept 14 agenda. Applications, due by Sept. 2, are available online:

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board; Purchasing & Procurement Oversight Committee; Hampton Economic Development Authority; Hampton Redevelopment & Housing Authority; Hampton Parking Authority; Board of Review of Real Estate Assessments; Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board; Peninsula Stadium Authority; Wetlands Board; Planning Commission; Athletic Hall of Fame; Animal Control Advisory Committee; Finance Committee; Golf Course Advisory Committee; Hampton on the Arts Commission; Hampton Clean City Commission; Neighborhood Commission; Peninsula Agency on Aging.

The following vacancies will appear on Council's Dec. 14th agenda: Hampton Federal Area Development Authority; Wetlands Board; Social Services Local Advisory Board; Hampton Senior Citizens Advisory Committee; Coliseum Advisory Committee.
