[ARCHIVED] Public hearings planned for environmental impact statement regarding new Hampton Roads crossing

HRBT

Aug. 23, 2016 - The results of a draft statement analyzing the potential social, economic and environmental impacts of proposed changes or improvements to crossings over the Hampton Roads harbor will be discussed at a public hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center and Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Quality Suites on Northampton Boulevard in Norfolk.

The study includes possible expansion of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and the construction of additional crossings. Both meetings, sponsored by the Virginia Department of Transportation, will be from 5-7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the meetings will be held one week later at the same locations and at the same times.

For more information and to make a comment, the draft "Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement" is available online at www.HamptonRoadsCrossingStudy.org.

You can also provide written or verbal comments at the hearing or submit them in writing by Sept. 19 to Scott Smizik, Virginia Department of Transportation, Environmental Division, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond, Va, 23129. And, you can email comments on the draft statement to HRCSSEIS@VDOT.Virginia.Gov.
