July 13, 2016 - Adopt a cat or kitten for half price during a special weekend adoption event at the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter. The shelter is nearly full and needs to make room -- and also help felines find a good forever home.
"Cat's Night Out" will offer extended hours so people can meet and play with cats after work hours. Friday, July 15, go by the shelter between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 16, visit the "Kitten Shower" from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During this weekend, prices for adoption will be cut in half. Adoptions of adult cats will be $25, and kittens will be $30. This includes all spaying/neutering, vaccines and a microchip.
The pictured cat, Princess Pretty Paws, is one of the many cats looking for a good home.
If you want to help these cats but can't adopt, please feel free to go to the shelter and have some kitten play time. There will also be a "wish list" if you can support the sheltering of cats and kittens with donations (non-clumping litter, toys, baby wipes, etc).
The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter provides animal services for Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County. It is located at 5843 Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, and the phone number is 757-933-8900.
