[ARCHIVED] Make a Rain Barrel! Workshops in March and April

Make your own rain barrel, and learn how to make more, at a hands-on workshop that provides all the parts. You make a rain barrel, take it home, and set it up! Sign up today! Supplies are limited.

Rain barrels capture the rain that runs off your roof and lets you use it when you need it. Without a rain barrel, the water runs through your yard, into a storm drain or ditch, and out to the Chesapeake Bay, taking nutrients from your yard and pollution from the street with it. Your rain barrel saves that water so you don't have to pay to water your landscape, reduces storm water runoff, and helps keep our Bay clean.

Did you know that you could capture 1,200 gallons of water from a 2,000 square foot roof during a one-inch rain? That is, if you had enough rain barrels...

So sign up today for this practical and educational workshop and start saving some water! Go to www.hampton.gov/hccc then look for Quick Links. Click on Register for a Rain Barrel Workshop.
