[ARCHIVED] Recycling dropoff sites available

Hampton residents who live in apartments and want to benefit the environment have a new option: recycling dropoff sites. The city has three sites where people who don't get curbside recycling service can take their household recyclables.
Councilwoman Teresa Schmidt announced the program at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27, saying that it shows two things: "We are good stewards in Hampton, and we are thinking ahead and trying to extend the life of our landfill."
Acceptable recyclables includes metal/aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, paper/newspaper, and cardboard (single ply).
The locations are: The Hampton Yard Waste Site, Briarfield Park and Gosnold's Hope Park.
