[ARCHIVED] Tide gauges can help track water levels, other information

Nov. 10, 2015 - Hampton and the U.S. Geological Survey have brought two new tide gauges on line to monitor water levels in the region. Tide gauges are used to measure mean sea level, weather patterns and other information related to waterways.

The new gauges are located at:

*Newmarket Creek and Mercury Boulevard

*The Hampton River at Route 351

They join a third gauge that has been used to gather real-time tide information. That gauge is located at:

*Sewells Point in Norfolk
