[ARCHIVED] Little Heroes at Home - Celebration of the Military Child

In celebration of "The Month of the Military Child," Military Newspapers of Virginia (MNV) and the Hampton Military Affairs Committee (MAC) and presenting sponsor, McDonald's of Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina, will host a Little Heroes at Home - Celebration of the Military Child event on Saturday, April 4 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, 1610 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA.

"The Month of the Military Child" was established in 1986 to recognize the contribution military children make as their parent or parents serve our country. Each April, all branches of the military throughout the country find ways to honor these children through special events and activities. A resolution has been created and adopted by both the City of Hampton and the Commonwealth of Virginia officially naming April "The Month of the Military Child."

Little Heroes at Home will honor our local military children for their service, sacrifices and strength of character. The festivities include entertainment, child-friendly activities featuring a bounce house, rock wall, carnival midway and activities from each organization present. All participants will also have community information and resources for military families.

"The Hampton MAC is honored to partner with Military Newspapers of Virginia in this Little Heroes at Home - Celebration of the Military Child. Through this event in April, the national "Month of the Military Child," we celebrate all the military's sons and daughters, thereby also honoring their parents who serve our nation so selflessly. It will be a great party with exciting activities and goodies for the children, and rightly so." -- John Gately, Chairman, Hampton Military Affairs Committee.

Additional event sponsors to date include USAA, Grand Furniture, Navy Federal, First Team Hampton Chevrolet, Applebee's, 1st Advantage Credit Union, Geico, Raytheon, University of Phoenix, USA Living, VCA Boulevard Animal Hospital, and Versability. All service members (active-duty, veteran, retired, Guard, and Reserve) and their family members and friends are welcome. This event is free of charge.
