Sirens & Shipwrecks @ the Northampton Branch Library

Monday, July 11, 2022

As long as humans have gone to sea in ships, the potential for danger awaits them. Early seafarers had many myths and lore as to what – or who – was responsible for a ship’s demise, including the alluring siren. Today, we know that there are many reasons which may cause a ship to wreck. Erika Cosme from the Mariner’s Museum takes a look at the early connection of sirens luring ships to their death, while examining modern causes for shipwrecks at sea.

This is an in-person event that will be hosted at the Northampton Branch Library. Spots are limited, so please sign up through link or contact us at (757) 825-4558 with questions.
