  1. Virginia Cooperative Extension's VA Pesticide Applicator re-certification

    December 13, 2018, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM @ Northampton Community Center

    The course is designed to get municipal/government employees, commercial, and private pesticide applicators re-certified before their local license expires. Categories for re-certification are 3a, 3b, 5a, 6, 8, 10 & 60. Registration is $10 for government employees by Dec. 6, $20 after. Regular registration is $40 by Dec. 6, $50 after. Checks and money orders should be made payable to VCE-Hampton and sent with registration form to Hampton Office (1919 Commerce Drive, Suite 340, Hampton, VA 23666. *NOTE: Attendance/completion of the course do not mean automatic recertification. A separate renewal and fee must be submitted to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services - Office of Pesticide Service for both commercial applicators and registered technicians. Federal, state, and local government employees are exempt from the renewal fee.

    In 1955 a nine –year-old military dependent arrived at Fort Monroe with his family where he spent four years attending Fort Monroe Elementary School and learning about the fort and its history. Join us as Ron Ponzar relates his experience while living at the fort, including the International Review and the 350th Jamestown Festival Celebration at the fort. Ron is a 1964 graduate of Hampton High School who went on to graduate from Campbell University in 1969. He served as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Virginia Department of Health from 1969 until his retirement in 2006. He’s been a beloved volunteer at the museum since 2009 as a docent and on special projects such as the Cheney photograph collection.
