City Manager's Message 1-17-18: Winter Weather Update

As you are aware, Hampton and the region are expected to get snowfall beginning late this morning/early afternoon.  Expected accumulations are in the 2 inches range. As a result, Hampton City Schools will be closed today. However, at this point, we do not see the need to close down city operations. While inconvenient, snowfall in the 2 inches range should not impede operations nor impact employee/resident safety. Therefore, City Hall will open on schedule today. Liberal leave - when properly scheduled with supervisors/department heads - is authorized for those who have unanticipated child care issues and/or are concerned about personal commutes on roads. Liberal leave may be used for the entire day or part of it, as needed and coordinated.

City Manager's Message 1-3-18: Status of Operations Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018

As you may have seen, the snow projections for Hampton and the surrounding region have significantly worsened over the day. Hampton is now under a Blizzard warning and our projected snowfall is at 11-12 inches. The timing for the snowfall’s arrival in our area is 6-9 p.m. tonight. We are also now projected to have much stronger winds. Together, these conditions are likely to make roads impassable.

City Manager's Message 1-3-18: Happy New Year and Winter Weather Updates

Happy New Year! I hope each of you had the opportunity to enjoy some much deserved time off with family and friends. It appears that the beginning of the new year and winter weather are becoming a tradition in Hampton Roads.  With snow in the forecast this week, I wanted to provide you with the “latest” information about potential impacts and what decisions, if any, we will make to operations’ schedules this week.
