[ARCHIVED] City Manager's Message: Feb. 11 is Show Your Team Spirit Day

The original item was published from February 10, 2022 11:51 AM to February 11, 2022 11:57 AM

It is hard to believe that it is Super Bowl time again! I don’t know about you, but it feels like it was just December. While we cannot always dress down or be casual, I am a firm believer that work should be both productive and fun! The Super Bowl is a great time to show our team spirit by wearing our favorite sports team's jersey. So, Friday, Feb. 11 is our annual Show Your Team Spirit Day.

il_1588xN.3686818073_de3eDon't feel like you have to wear only Bengals or Rams attire — I know we have a lot of Cowboys and Commanders fans out there! Actually, you don’t even have to wear a football jersey, shirt or hat — feel free to wear apparel for any baseball, hockey, lacrosse, swim team or whatever other sport you love (professional, amateur, or even little league).  I will be wearing a Kecoughtan Warriors shirt in honor of my daughter’s sports team. Let's just join together and show our team spirit and while we are at it, let’s take a moment to maybe learn something new about a co-worker like who they cheer for, their favorite sport, or what sport their children play. If you get a chance, drop me a quick email and tell me what team and/or sport you are passionate about. I would love to hear from you.

Don’t forget to take pictures and send them to the Marketing team at marketing@hampton.gov so they can capture the moment in this gallery: https://hampton.gov/gallery.aspx?AID=84

Team Hampton Survey

Spirit Day is just one way we can learn more about each other and have fun at work. In fact, I would really like to expand the opportunities for us to do more fun things together as a workforce, and I know all of our senior leaders feel the same. To help us figure out what you would most like to do as Team Hampton, I would like to ask you to take a few moment to complete the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6FRVK5M

Wellness Committee

Also, we are looking for employee volunteers to be part of a Wellness Committee that we will convene to help plan the types of events you most want to do. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the application at https://hamptonmarketing.wufoo.com/forms/mgb8vv81idlbf8. We will contact those of you selected in the very near future — we want to ensure we get a diverse group of employees who represent our many operations. Please note you will need your department head's/supervisor's permission.

In the meantime, I hope we all have fun celebrating our favorite sports teams on Friday!
