City Manager's Message Nov. 8: Update on mandatory Covid-19 testing that started in October

Posted on November 9, 2021 at 2:34 PM by Don Mann

Nov. 8, 2021 — I wanted to provide you with an update on our mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing program that began Oct. 11. As of Monday, Nov. 8, 2,264 employees have submitted their certification status.  Of that number 1,915 or 85% employees are fully vaccinated!  There are approximately 304 employees who are participating in weekly testing.

We appreciate your patience as we have worked to make this process as seamless as possible and would like to share with you the updated COVID-19 Test FAQs and new COVID-19 Policy. These documents can also be found on the Employee Connection webpage. Please read both documents to ensure your understanding of and compliance with the program. Some key changes and/or clarifications (in response to frequently asked questions) to the program are as follows:

  1. The at-home testing window is once during each administrative work week between Saturday 12:01 a.m. through Wednesday 8 a.m. regardless of your first shift of the week. FAQ #7
  2. QR codes have been created for the certification of status portal and the weekly testing portal. FAQs #2 and #8
  3. The time spent testing (i.e. opening the test kit, completing the nasal swab, taking a picture and uploading results) is non-compensable. FAQ #23
  4. Failure to comply with program requirements will result in disciplinary action. Policy Section VIII

I continue to be encouraged by our strong vaccination rates and with the changes to the testing program I expect our test rate to increase.  Thank you for your compliance with the program and doing what you can to keep your co-workers safe!
