Business Licenses

Information on Business Licenses

A new business must obtain a business license from the commissioner of the revenue before conducting business in Hampton. Any prerequisites, such as zoning ordinances, court orders or health department certificates must be complied with before obtaining the business license. Certain businesses may also be exempt from the license tax. Exemptions are determined based on a factual investigation made by the commissioner of the revenue. Business license taxes are generally based on gross receipts. Tax rates vary depending on business category.
