Little Back River Road Reconstruction

The city has received state and federal funding for the Little Back River Road reconstruction project, and engineering is currently underway. A public hearing on the project ($9.2 million in scope) will be held in early 2021, with right-of-way acquisition beginning in the fall of 2021 and construction starting in the summer of 2023.

The plan is to widen Little Back River Road from Riverchase Drive to Clemwood Parkway, which will provide an extra travel lane towards North King Street, build a sidewalk on the east side of the road, to include a wider asphalt area on the west side for pedestrians and bicyclists, and to provide drainage improvements, such as curb and gutter and an underground pipe system.
