Blissful Lights is a community decorating contest whose goal is to get neighborhood organizations working together to lift spirits and strengthen relationships during the holiday season.
Prizes included five scholarships that will let a Hampton City School student attend a week of Summer Camp Hampton sponsored by The Department of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services; five gift certificates allowing a student to attend a complimentary swim class; and five certificates giving students annual Parks and Recreation memberships.
How it Works
Parks provides participants with 10 decorative, lighted balls and participants will be assigned a community center to decorate, based on the district they are in. Participants then begin decorating during the months of November and December. Judging is based on curb appeal as viewed from the street only, so only decorations on the "street side" of the property will be judged.
The winners are announced at the annual holiday parade.
