The new Fox Hill Neighborhood Center is well underway. The center has officially been incorporated and is currently working towards non-profit status. The center is progressing nicely towards having a new full-size gymnasium and commercial kitchen which will be built to the east of the existing building. The remodel of the old church building is also coming along as planned.
About a month ago contractors began working on the new HVAC system which should be up and running soon.
Although the exact flooring hasn’t been decided on, the choices are being narrowed down and that decision will in the near future. The next step will be to paint the entire inside of the building.
At the last board meeting, officers were elected and they are:
President Jamie Chapman
Vice-President Brian Rowland
Secretary Linda Ware
Treasurer Tori Keener
If you would like to volunteer or contribute to the center your help would be welcomed.
Please email Jamie Chapman at firstname.lastname@example.org with your information and how you would like to be a part of the new center.
How was this site picked?
A community engagement process, including public meetings, was used to select a new site. The prevalence of wetlands in the Fox Hill area complicated the search, and land use analyses of several sites were conducted to determine the suitability for a new neighborhood center. Here is information on past reports and meetings:
A meeting on Nov. 27, 2018 at Asbury Elementary School updated residents about progress on the neighborhood center. It was also an opportunity for city staff to get citizen feedback. See description of Nov. 27, 2018 community meeting. The meeting included a presentation on proposed amenities, the budget for renovations, and a request for volunteers to serve on a planning work group. Members of the work group will keep the process moving forward by sharing their insight and helping to develop a framework for the center.
