The Information Technology Department provides convenient and secure access to information and services, reliable communication and computer infrastructure, and effectively manage the city's information technology and knowledge assets.
Hampton has three cable television franchise agreements. Cavalier, Cox Communications, and Verizon all offer digital cable television services to customers as well as telephone and Internet access. The cable systems serve up to 60,000 households in Hampton.
Coordination of the city's cable franchise is provided by the Information Technology Department. Other departments included in franchise administration include the City Attorney's Office and the City Manager's Office.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations limit the city's ability to regulate cable franchises. Areas in which the city has regulatory power are generally limited to the basic programming tier and customer service issues.
For questions, comments or complaints about the franchise agreements, please call the 311 Citizen Contact Center by dialing 311 on a land line, or 727-8311 by cell phone or if outside of Hampton. Please note: The city cannot assist with billing problems.
