Hampton offers a variety of water fitness classes. Group swim lessons are offered for infants (6 months and older), preschoolers, youth and adults for either 4- or 8- week sessions. Private Swim lessons are offered in packages of 5 or 10 lessons. Stroke Development is an instructional program designed for children ages 6-16 who want to be prepared for swim team, or who are currently on a swim team.
With the opening of the Hampton Aquaplex, the Hampton Aquatics Center closed at noon on Nov. 4, 2022, and all classes and lap swims have been consolidated at the Fort Monroe Community Center Pool. The water aerobics schedule are weekdays 10-11 a.m., with shallow water on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, and deep-water aerobics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. See the city aquatics calendar below for details, lap swims, and hours
The Hampton Aquaplex, at 1908 Coliseum Drive, opened Oct. 28. This state-of-the-art aquatics center provides more recreational opportunities for the community with a 50-meter pool, a 25-yard pool and an outdoor splash park. This facility will serve two purposes: as a community fitness and wellness center with swimming lessons and as a generator of youth sports travel. The complex will allow Hampton to offer water-safety and first learn-to-swim classes to all Hampton second-grade students.
The Aquaplex is managed by a third party separate from the city.
