The Public Works Division is at the heart of most road, water and waste issues in Hampton. Public Works is separated into several major divisions or services, including:
- Engineering Services
- Capital Projects, Construction Standards, Utility Policy, Development Services, Improvement Projects, Waterways Management Plans, Reports, Studies and Plans
- Solid Waste
- Bulk Limbs; Bulk Trash; Collection Containers; Household Chemical Collection; Leaves & Grass; Recycling; Regular Garbage; Tire Recycling; Yard Waste Site; Reports, Studies & Plans
- Stormwater
- Catch Basins & Yard Drains; Cave-Ins; Ditches & Drain Pipes; Flooding & Stoppages; Illegal Dumping; Outfall Ditch Maintenance Schedule; Stormwater Billing.
- Streets & Roads
- Curbs and Gutters, Sidewalk Repair, Handicap Ramps, Road Shoulder Reshaping or Rebuilding, Potholes and Cracked Pavement, Concrete Slab Damage, Street Sweeping
- Land Disturbance Permits
- Traffic Engineering
- Guardrails, Moving and Hauling, Pavement Markings, Street Lights, Traffic Counts, Traffic Signal Systems, Traffic Signs
- Wastewater
- Sewer Overflows or Stoppages, the Fats, Oils, and Grease Program, Publications, Sewer Mapping GIS, Sewer User Fees

2nd Annual Safety Awards lunch
Public Works employees went to Bluebird Gap Farm Tuesday, May 21 for the second Annual Public Works Appreciation/Safety Awards Day, which included food, music and a few jokes.

Touch a Truck event a success
More than 2,000 people attended the 2nd annual Touch a Truck event May 18, 2013, taking advantage of the chance to get up close with a wide range of "trucks" from the city's Public Works department.
