Hampton Tour de Trash October 23rd
Limited Seats Available

The Hampton Waste Watchers are pleased to offer Tour de Trash, the longest-running, most fascinating tour of solid waste available! The free tour will take place on Friday, October 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and participants must register to attend – no walk-ons permitted. The tour is a brown-bag event, with bottled water provided. Participants wear washable, comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes and ride a school bus throughout the tour. The minimum age for participating in the tour is eight years old.

Tour de Trash takes you through virtually every corner of Hampton’s solid waste management system, from the depths of a trash pit to the top of the Peninsula (in good weather). Burning questions such as "What happens to my trash?" and "Who cares about trash anyway?" are answered, along with many more!

Tour de Trash visits Bethel Landfill, the VPPSA Compost Facility, the Hampton Refuse-Fired Steam-Generating Facility, Branscome, the ARC of the Virginia Peninsula’s Computer Recycling Program, and TFC Recycling Transfer Site. Between stops we talk about solid waste topics and issues, how Hampton’s solid waste management system works, and how individuals contribute to responsible solid waste management.

To register, fill out this form. For more information about Tour de Trash and other environmental programs, call 727-1199.
