United We Stand: 
Day of Remembrance and Hope

Held September 11 at Gosnold's Hope Park, the City of Hampton and the Hampton Military Affairs Committee (MAC) sponsored a ceremony to honor the Armed Services and Public Safety personnel who protect the nation every day.  Public readings were held near the Trees of Hope, a strand of eleven evergreen trees planted in co-mingled soils from the sites of the three attacks that occurred on that day (the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania).

Upcoming Programs

Peninsula Town Center to Honor Four “Marys” in Naming of Park

Recently the Peninsula Town Center named one of its most prominent features, a designated children’s outdoor area, in honor of four prominent area educators, all with the same first name.  Marys Park will celebrate the achievements and contributions of all teachers through the lives of Mary Christian, Mary Johnson, Mary Passage and Mary Peake. Now under construction, the Peninsula Town Center (PTC), a 1-million square foot mixed-use community, is the most significant new development project in Hampton in more than 30 years.  Phase One is scheduled to open in 2009.

 
City Council Meetings

Council meetings are regularly scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers, 8th Floor, City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are televised live on City Channel TV-47 Hampton and are simulcast on the website at: www.hampton.gov/council/council_meetings.html
