April 3, 2017 - Vice Mayor Linda Curtis is scheduled to help recognize the 5th Annual Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service during a ceremony Tuesday at City Hall. Curtis will present a proclamation and have brief remarks during the ceremony with Gerald Patesel, director of Community Services for the Peninsula Agency on Aging, and Gina Lewis of the Peninsula Foster Grandparents Program. Toiletries and toiletry bags will be given to the Agency on Aging for distribution to Hampton residents participating in the Meals on Wheels Program.
During Recognition Day, mayors and county officials hold public events and use traditional and social media to highlight the value of national service to the nation’s cities and counties. Last year, 3,539 elected officials representing more than 178 million Americans participated in Recognition Day.
