Recruits graduate from the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy (HRCJTA)

Sheriff Recruit Class of 2017The Hampton Sheriff's Office's latest recruits graduated from the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy in Newport News. They are members of Class 17-2, which completed 13 weeks of training in July. 

The full class of 37 deputies represents agencies from throughout Hampton Roads and the Middle Peninsula. Deputies must complete more than 488 hours of training that requires each of them to master 424 state mandates of law enforcement training. 

That training includes defensive tactics and firearms. Deputy B. Durham was recognized for receiving the highest academic scores during thirteen weeks of rigorous testing.
