Aug. 9, 2017 - The Housing and Neighborhood Services Division is looking for team leaders to help with the Hampton Home Repair Blitz scheduled for Oct. 7 in the Old North Hampton neighborhood. More than 200 volunteers and 27 homeowners have agreed to take part in the Blitz. It's a chance for the elderly, disabled, veterans or low-income residents to get help making repairs to their homes. Team leaders are men and women who are skilled in carpentry, general construction and home repair, willing to spend 5-6 hours preparing for the Blitz and a day on the Blitz itself.
The Home Repair Blitz takes place twice a year. It is sponsored by the city, Habitat for Humanity and the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, with support from various community groups and organizations, including the United Way. For more information, contact Marybrook Burchfield at 757-727-6244 by Aug. 18. You can also learn more about the Blitz online at www.hampton.gov/blitz.
