July 28, 2017 - The National Weather Service says a low pressure system crossing the mid-Atlantic region will cause moderate to heavy rain Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, with lingering showers possible through Saturday night. Some late afternoon and evening storms may be strong to severe, with damaging winds and frequent lightning the main threats. Minor flooding is possible along the coast and the lower Chesapeake Bay, and a flash flood watch has been issued through Saturday morning for areas north and east of Richmond. The Weather Service says 2-4 inches of rain is expected across the flood watch area. Hampton's Emergency Management office will continue to monitor the weather.
