Information about the Zika virus

April 14, 2016 - The Centers for Disease Control recently updated their prediction model of the Zika Virus’ threat in the U.S. from 12 states to 30 states, including Virginia.

Although there is no certainty of the virus establishing itself in the U.S. or Virginia, Hampton residents are encouraged to continue measures to reduce the threat of all mosquito-borne diseases. This includes dumping any standing water around your homes and wearing mosquito repellent. Hampton’s Environmental Services Division will continue to monitor the situation.

For more information about the Zika Virus, visit the CDC website online, the Virginia Department of Health website or the CDC Travelers’ Health website.
