Students will celebrate Global Youth Service Day

April 12, 2016 - More than 400 middle school students from Hampton and Newport News are expected to learn about giving back and making a difference in their community by taking part in a Global Youth Service Day event on Friday, April 15.

From 4:30-8 p.m. Friday students from local after-school programs will attend one of thirteen "issue stations" at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center, where they will learn about a local or global issue and its impact. Then they will take part on a hands-on service project related to that issue.

The program is a collaboration between several area organizations, including Alternatives, Inc. Hampton City Schools 21st Century Programs, Hampton Family YMCA and Hampton 4-H. For more information contact Allyson Graul at Alternatives Inc., 757-838-2330.
