Benefits begin on the 1st of the month following one full calendar month of employment in the following benefit plans:

Paid Vacation and Holidays


Employees begin accruing annual and sick leave immediately. The ten paid holidays each year include:

  • Group life insurance is offered through the VRS and the carrier is the Minnesota Life Insurance Company.

  • Training and Career Development: The Employee Education Assistance Program encourages employee development through continued education and professional growth relevant to the employee's current position or in a reasonable career advancement opportunity within the City. The City also offers training opportunities in the areas of compliance and safety, general skill and leadership development.
  • Medical / Dental and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts are offered on a pre-tax basis in order to reduce the amount of tax the employee pays.

  • Direct deposit into most banks is a convenient finance feature.
