The Public Works Division is at the heart of most road, water and waste issues in Hampton. Public Works is separated into several major divisions, departments or services, including Engineering, Solid Waste, Streets and Roads and Environmental Services.

  1. Public meeting planned to discuss Chesapeake Bay, Back River "action" plans

    Feb. 15, 2018 - The City of Hampton will have a public meeting on Friday, March 2, to discuss a draft of the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load action plan and a draft of the Back River Bacteria Total Maximum Daily Load action plan.
  2. Road improvements - including new curbs, crosswalks - begin on South Mallory Street

    Nov. 17, 2017 - Pembroke Construction Company has been awarded the contract for road improvements on South Mallory Street from East Sewell Avenue to East County Street.
  3. Sanitary sewer system repairs on North 2nd Street could disrupt traffic in area

    Nov. 13, 2017 - Ongoing repairs to the sanitary sewer system on North 2nd Street from Old Buckroe Road to Seaboard Avenue could disrupt vehicle traffic flow in the area. Motorists are encouraged to pay close attention to posted traffic signs.
